Ten Things I am Thankful For (in no particular order)

Ten Things I am Thankful For
By Kyle Danner

1. Probably the most important thing I am thankful for is loving and caring parents. My Mom and Dad do a lot for me, they help me do homework, the provide life essentials to me, and a roof over my head.

2. Another aspect of my life I’m thankful for is my brothers. My brothers help me out with school and they support me in just about everything I do. My brothers also take me places when my parents can’t.

3. Another important thing I am thankful for is the good education that I am receiving. At times I get very frustrated with all the homework and projects I get at school, and I hate getting up in the morning, but it is necessary to go on to college and get a good career. I cant take school for granted because of the millions of children who don’t get an education and are most likely not going to succeed in life.

4. Another big thing I am thankful for is living in America. In my opinion America is the greatest country on Earth. Americans have all the rights they deserve, freedom of speech and religion, and the right of voting in elections. Some people in other countries have little or no rights. And wish they had what I have, and what I sometimes take for granted.

5. Another thing I am thankful for is very important, and also taken for granted by a lot of people, my vision. If I didn’t have my vision it would be impossible for my life to be normal, I wouldn’t be able to do most things without being helped in some way. An example would be running. I wouldn’t be able to run because I could hit something and maybe even die. I would need a person to run with me and guide me which I would absolutely hate.

6. Another Ability I am thankful for is my hearing. Not being able to hear would absolutely be disastrous to me, I wouldn’t be able to listen to music or the voices of those I love. I would take hearing over just about any other ability.

7. Another aspect of my life that I am thankful for is my brain. As my mom always tells me “I was blessed with a good brain.” If it wasn’t for my great brain, I would not do good in school and my parents wouldn’t be too happy. Also if it wasn’t for my good brain, I wouldn’t be able to pursue my dream of becoming a medical doctor. All I can say is I hope my brain will enable me to fulfill that dream.

8. I am also very thankful for the many friends I have. My friends are good to talk to and I know I can depend on them if something goes wrong. If I didn’t have any friends my life would be very different, I would just sit at home and do nothing. But thank goodness I have those friends because they workout with me and help me stay fit.

9. Another ability I am thankful for is being able to play the guitar. Music is a huge part of me and I absolutely love playing my guitar. When I am stressed out, I just sit back and play guitar because it calms me and helps me deal with the little bit of “drama” ‘in my life.

10. Another thing I am thankful for is a kind of weird one, my long legs. My long legs help me a lot with my running and other athletic events. My long legs also make me tall which means I can help people reach things who maybe are kind of short in stature.

Culture, Culture, Culture
The American culture is a very diverse one. America is after all “The Land of Immigrants”. All the immigrants that have arrived in this country over the past 233 years have all brought part of their own culture. American culture varies around the country because of where those immigrants settled. For example In New York they have a Chinatown and Little Italy, the immigrants all lived by other immigrants from their own country, so if you were in Chinatown most of the stuff is written in…you guessed it, Chinese. It feels like a different country because the culture of their Chinese ancestry really shows. While Chinatown may feel like a different country you can walk just a few blocks you could be in a totally different area, such as Little Italy. This is because America is a melting pot of cultures, which makes America a very special country, unlike any other in the world. America is truly, the greatest country on Earth.
If I had to define my own culture I would define it as a very different culture compared to the average American family, but that’s what makes us, us. We eat at home a lot more often than normal. My mother cooks meals just about every day. We eat a lot of different foods from cultures around the world. We eat potatoes, pasta, various meats, pizza, and chicken. We only have fast food about once a month. My family is also centered on music, while most of us can’t play multiple instruments, I do, and I am always encouraged by my parents and brothers alike. My Immediate family is not very close to my distant family because they are spread all over the world and we barely ever see them, but we do talk on the phone about once every few weeks. So that is the culture of my family.
